  26. A 030 with zero-wait memory spends about 50% of the time on the bus in
  27. average programs. That's why you can safely add a few waitstates without
  28. reducing the performance significantly. Now, the A3000 memory already
  29. has waitstates that are ok for 25MHz operation. A 50MHz 030 obviously
  30. needs twice the memory speed and since you cannot simply make the
  31. motherboard faster the 50MHz 030 will suffer badly.

  35. That's because you take "MHz" for a performance measure. If you talk
  36. about data transfer speed you have to think in terms of bandwidth
  37. (for average performance values) and latency (important for worst
  38. cases).

  43. It would be nearly half as fast. You do not gain much if the memory
  44. is faster than necessary (always speaking for average programs).
